Top Five January 2024 Announcements for Higher Education Institutions

- FSA Electronic Announcement General-24-06, 2024-25 FAFSA Student Aid Index Update and Timeline – ED has announced that to account for inflationary adjustments as required under the law, it has updated the supporting tables used in the Student Aid Index (SAI) calculation to ensure that students are benefitting from an approximately additional $1.8 billion in aid. ED also noted that it anticipates that the 2024-25 FAFSA processing timeline will change as listed in this announcement.
- FSA Electronic Announcement GENERAL-23-100, Update on the Simplified, Streamlined, Redesigned 2024-25 FAFSA (Updated Jan. 30, 2024) – Whenever ED publishes a status update on the redesigned Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, it will add a link to the update in this announcement. We recommend bookmarking this page. To date, there have been updates as of November 15 and 27, 2023; December 8, 15, and 22, 2023; and January 2 and 30, 2024. This announcement also includes a link to the 2024–25 FAFSA Updates page, which has a link to the FAFSA Simplification Information page.
- FSA Electronic Announcement GENERAL-23-115, 2024–25 FAFSA Soft Launch Details and Timelines (Updated Jan. 22, 2024) – This announcement expands on previous information about the timeline of the 2024–25 FAFSA form launch and provides additional details about what applicants and families can expect through February 2024. It also contains a link to the 2024–25 FAFSA Issue Alerts page, which details open and resolved issues with the 2024-25 FAFSA form.
- FSA Electronic Announcement GENERAL-23-79, Updated SAIG Enrollment Agreement Available Oct. 23, 2023 – Required Steps to Receive 2024–25 ISIRs (Updated Jan. 29, 2024) – The updated Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) enrollment agreement, which became available on the SAIG Enrollment website in October 2023, requires compliance with the protection of federal tax information (FTI) provided to FSA partners by ED. This includes return information obtained in support of the administration of the federal student aid programs. Partners who fail to sign the updated SAIG enrollment agreement will not be able to access 2024–25 Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs).
- FSA Electronic Announcement GENERAL-23-116, FSA Partner Connect – New Features in FSA Partner Connect Implemented Dec. 17, 2023 (Updated Jan. 26, 2024) – FSA has expanded the features of FSA Partner Connect and said it will provide more information about the changes “in the coming days.”

- FSA Electronic Announcement ANN-24-01, Live Internet Webinars – Better FAFSA Better Future Webinar Series, January – February 2024 – The next Q&A webinar will be on February 22, 2024.
- FSA Electronic Announcement CB-24-02 – Apply by February 27, 2024, for designation as a Title III or Title V institution and waiver of the non-federal share requirement for the Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) programs.
