Webcast for Nonprofits: 2018 Nonprofit Tax Year-End Review

As 2018 comes to a close, we see that it has been an interesting year for exempt organization (EO) tax issues. In addition to new rulings and announcements and EO tax form changes, the fallout from tax reform has taken center stage. The IRS is taking a closer look at unrelated business income tax (UBIT) and international activities. Then there’s the “data-driven decision making” regime at the IRS, plus numerous pronouncements, tax court cases, new forms, and changes to form instructions that significantly change the way we need to report tax data. On top of all that, we have the uncertainty surrounding the “parking tax.” In this session, we will summarize the most important of these many changes and look toward 2019.

Learning Objectives:

  • Determine the ways exempt organizations are – and might be – affected by tax reform
  • Identify tax changes during 2018 that directly impact nonprofit organizations
  • Evaluate how recent IRS pronouncements, tax court cases, and changes to form instructions affect the reporting of tax data
  • Discern what your organization might need to do to prepare for the future
